The uncut diamond

They say there are no coincidences, and that everything that happens to us happens for a reason. Yet far fewer people know or recognize what that reason actually is.How interesting human beings are...When we fall in love, we often tell the story of how special our meeting was, dreaming about the perfect timing and the wonder of the Universe. But when we find ourselves in situations we consider negative, everything suddenly changes. We feel as though the whole world has turned against us.Yet perhaps not everything happens to us in order to work against us. Sometimes, what we do not understand may be leading us toward something we are not yet able to see.Things are not always what they seem. In fact, most of the time, they are not what they appear to be.

Life is a mystery, and sometimes, in order to truly see, we have to close our eyes and allow our intuition to lead us. Because not everything can be seen with the physical eye.

But then another question comes to mind: Can something that looks bad actually lead to something good? And can something that looks good eventually turn out to be something completely different? How is that even possible? Can hard times really be blessings?

How can we say that when we see an abused child who has already been through so much trauma? What can we say to a parent who has lost their child? What do we say to people who lose their homes, their families, or everything they have in a disaster or a war, and suddenly have to start their entire lives over?

Can we simply tell them, “It’s okay. You will be happier one day”? No. I don't think so. Life is much more complicated than that. No matter how hard we try to understand it, we may never fully know all the reasons behind everything that happens in our lives.Maybe the real lesson is not to force ourselves to find an explanation for every painful experience. Maybe we have to learn to see through it—to look beyond what is happening on the surface.

I have seen people who seemed to be living the perfect life. A beautiful home. The perfect people beside them. Everything seemed to be in its place. Even the smile on their face looked perfect. And it made me wonder: Is that really possible? Can anyone's life truly be as perfect as it appears from the outside?Or is there always something beneath the surface that we cannot see?We don't know what someone has sacrificed to create the life they have. We don't know what they have given up, what they have endured, or what choices they made along the way.

Sometimes, people themselves may not even realize what they have traded for an easier life. We can choose the path that looks simpler, the path that avoids suffering and difficult lessons. But sometimes, in trying to avoid pain at all costs, we may also avoid the very experiences that shape us.Perhaps we are all like unpolished diamonds.A diamond does not reveal its brilliance in its original form. It must be cut, shaped, and polished before its light can truly be seen.

Life can be like that too.

The struggles, the losses, the difficult moments, and the experiences that break us open can shape us in ways we could never have imagined. Not because suffering is something we should seek, and not because every painful experience has an explanation we will ever understand, but because we can choose what we do with what life gives us.

We cannot avoid life.Life comes with struggles. It comes with pain, loss, change, disappointment, and eventually, death. These are parts of the human experience. What we can choose is how we walk through it. Will we allow every painful experience to make us bitter? Will we blame the Universe when life doesn't go the way we wanted? Or will we ask ourselves what there is to learn, what there is to understand, and what is waiting to be revealed beneath the surface?Every situation can be handled differently when we begin asking the right questions.

Why do I have this in my life right now? What do I need to learn from this? What can I change? What do I need to change within myself? Why do I have to go through this? What is this experience trying to show me?There are so many questions we can ask ourselves instead of immediately asking, “Why is this happening to me?”

Life will never be perfect. And yet, perhaps life is perfect in its own imperfection. Maybe perfection was never the point because its already are, we just do not see in the moment of suffering.Maybe perfection was never the point, because in its own mysterious way, life already is what it is meant to be. We simply cannot always see it in the moment of suffering. We see differently when the pain has passed. We understand differently when we have had time to look back. Sometimes, only years later do we realize that something we once thought was the end of our world changed the direction of our entire life.

We are only seeing one moment, one chapter, one piece of the picture. So perhaps the next time life doesn't make sense, try to let it be what it is.Accept that it hurts. Accept the pain. Don't always run from it or try to immediately change it. Sometimes, we have to walk toward it, sit with it, and allow ourselves to feel what is there.

There are things in life we cannot change. We cannot change what has already happened. We cannot control every loss, every ending, or every circumstance.Sometimes, all we can do is accept what is, even when we don't understand it.

Perhaps it is the moment we stop fighting against what we cannot change and begin finding our way through it. Because there is always a way...
